Update to Demortalizing

Just a week or so ago I got my hands on my proof copy of Demortalizing. To put into words what this means to me, what this journey to write this has been, and what I hope this yields I don’t think can be held in a blog post - but I will try.

Seeing my work published, in print, with an ISBN on the back wrapped in its gorgeous cover feels surreal - like looking in a mirror that doesn’t just show you who you are, but takes you on a Dicken’s style journey at warp speed through the inner workings of your soul. It is a dream realized - not manifested with some new-age guru B.S., but carved out with sweat and tears, and metaphorical blood that was spilled in ink on paper.

It’s a journey that has challenged me - pushing me to edges of vulnerability with myself, examining cracks, turning over darkness to see what’s underneath, and reconnecting with areas of my past that I honestly never wanted to remember. It’s one that has grown me, not just as a poet and writer, but as a person. It’s helped me to define my boundaries, stake fence posts around things I do not want for myself, and search for more of the things that I do - grounding all of that with a stronger sense of self worth.

I hope that Demortalizing reaches someone - that it touches a heart, stirs a soul, or simply whispers on the breeze to someone that they are not alone. I hope it helps someone heal. I hope that it inspires others to put some boundaries in place, or to self-reflect, or to root out their own darkness. I hope it helps someone love themselves deeper.

While this book is finished and will be will be releasing on my birthday - my journey is far from over. I am already hard at work on the next chapter of my poetic journey - but I’ll save the details of that for another blog post.

For now - you can per-order a copy of Demortalizing at the link below. All pre-orders will be signed, so that’s kind of cool!
